Heliography Project
200 Years of Photography (1827–2027)
In Memory of Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and the World’s First Photograph
In the summer of 1827, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce succeeded in capturing the world’s first light-resistant photograph. With an exposure time of several days, he created an image of the view from the window of his study at the Le Gras estate in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, France. The photograph was recorded on a tin plate coated with asphalt, measuring 16.5 × 21 cm.
To celebrate this remarkable anniversary, I have launched a heliography project that honors Niépce’s visionary work from 1827.
